Collectible badge. This is an obsolete vintage badge.
Looks like it is made of Sterling Silver (we can't say for certain as it doesn't say so, but it VERY POSSIBLY is).
In fact, it's the fakes that are often stamped "Sterling Silver".
The Maker’s Hallmark "S.G. ADAMS CO. ST. LOUIS MO" identifying the company that produced it is stamped on the back of the badge.
To the age of this badge, we can't say other than it's "old", but consider the fact that the maker -- S.G. Adams, which sold office supplies for more than 126 years-- filed for Bankruptcy in 2001.
