Garth Brooks – Ropin' The Wind
Label: Liberty Records (a division of Capitol Records – CDP 596330 | 1991 | CLUB EDITION
Ropin’ the Wind is the landmark third studio album from country superstar Garth Brooks, released September 2, 1991. It made history as Brooks’ first album to debut at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts, a feat no country artist had achieved since Kenny Rogers more than a decade earlier.
The record dominated the charts with four separate runs at No. 1 between late 1991 and spring 1992, spending a total of 18 weeks at the top. Certified 14× Platinum by the RIAA in 1998, it remains one of the best-selling country albums of all time. Internationally, the album broke barriers, reaching the UK Top 50 pop albums and holding the No. 1 spot for months on the country charts.
This release also marked a transitional moment in Brooks’ career—it was the final studio album issued under Capitol Records Nashville until Fresh Horses in 1995. With its mix of honky-tonk energy, heartfelt ballads, and crossover appeal, Ropin’ the Wind cemented Brooks as a global force in country music.
