Tony Bennett - The Art of Romance
Label: RPM Records – CK 92820, Columbia – CK 92820
ONE OF THE RICHEST ALBUMS OF TONY BENNET'S LATE-CAREER RENAISSANCE
Veteran crooner Tony Bennett studio album release , "The Art of Romance,". Tony settles into a mellow groove with slow and midtempo from top to bottom, The 11-track, Phil Ramone-produced set features the song "All for You," which is a version of the instrumental standard "Nuage" with lyrics newly penned by Bennett. Romance partakes mostly of deep-dish orchestral takes of classics (three by Johnny Mandel; two by Johnny Mercer). The end-of-the-affair "Where Do You Start" is the disc's quiet heart-stopper, while memories of happier days are conjured by Mercer?s "Time to Smile" and the wry Mandel/Dave Frishberg "Little Did I Dream."
This is one of the richest albums of the singer?s late-career renaissance.
