Wee Willie Winkie And Other Stories
by Rudyard Kipling
Antique Turn Of The Century Hardcover Pocket Book
A soft back edition containing 4 other stories:
Baa Baa Black Sheep, His Majesty the King, The Drums of the Fore and Aft, and Without Benefit of Clergy.
This early printing of the last of Kipling's famous Indian Railway Library Series, Wee Willie Winkie & Other Child Stories contain four of his best known pieces focused on the younger generation. Focused on the tale of Willie Winkie, the young son of a military Colonel, Kipling's children's book depicts the dangers to be found in the British colonies as well as the opportunities those spaces pose for bravery and growth. Though the narrative begins with Willie's youthful rebellion against the rigid rules of the military camp in which he lives, it traces his successful attempt to right his wrongs and rescue those put at risk. In the end, Willie claims his adult name -- notably Percival, the same name as a knight of the Round Table -- and Kipling declares "And in this manner did Wee Willie Winkie enter into his manhood." Some of Kipling's finest.
- Baa Baa Black Sheep
- His Majesty the King

Rudyard Kipling (Joseph Rudyard Kipling 1865-1936) was one of the most popular British authors of prose and verse in the late 19th and early 20th century. His development of the short story is recognised as a significant milestone in children’s literature. He was awarded The Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907 and nominated for a knighthood and Poet Laureateship. Some of his most famous fiction includes The Jungle Book (1894), and Kim (1901) as well as classic poems of Gunga Din (1890) and Mandeley (1890). His literature has stood the test of time with many of his stories adapted for films in the current day.
