Quick Release Plate for Vivitar VPT-2457 3rd Generation tripod
Needed to attach/remove a camera to/from the 3rd Generation Vivitar VPT-2457 tripod.
Important NOTE: Over the years Vivitar released THREE DIFFERENT VPT2457 tripods (yeah, it's crazy but that's the way it is).
This is for the 3rd Generation version only. NOT for 1st or 2nd Generation
The way to tell which generation you have is by measuring the receptacle (where the plate is inserted into). This one must measure 44mm wide in the opening.
If your Vivitar VPT-2457 tripod receptacle measures smaller than this, you need a different plate! If it measures approximately 38mm or 1-1/2 inches), then you have the 2nd Generation Vivitar VPT-2457.
If that's what you have, we have the correct plate available now in our store here
If your receptacle width measures even smaller (approx. 35mm wide), you have a 1st generation. Please contact us as we are working on a replacement plate for this.
Note #2: This is NOT for other Vivitar VPT tripods, just the VPT2457 Generation 2

A quick release plate will attach to the camera's tripod mount and allows you to quickly and easily attach or remove the camera from a compatible tripod without having to waste time fumbling with the threaded mount.
Having the same number of quick release plates as the number of cameras and/or large telephoto lenses in use allows you to leave one on each, enabling the rapid change of equipment with minimal fuss, essential for the professional or advanced amateur photographer. Always good to have a spare.
