Brahms Symphony No 2 Tragic Overture by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London CD
Performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - London, Conducted by Kurt Rede (Redel)
Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897) was a German composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor of the Romantic period. Brahms is sometimes grouped with Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven as one of the "Three B's" of music. Some even cast him as the successor to Beethoven. Championed by Robert Schumann, an early supporter, his music was largely successful. Despite this, Brahms was self-conscious and sometimes self-critical.
