The Complete Guide to Night and Lowlight Digital Photography
by Michael Freeman (Paperback)

(A Lark Photography Book)

Go beyond daylight to create compelling lowlight images

Since the invention of the camera, photographers have struggles to work around the limitations of available light, film latitude, and reciprocity failure. Digital photography changed all that. With today's digital cameras and image-processing programs, capturing the beauty of lowlight images has become a reality.

Aimed at serious photographers, the lavishly illustrated guide The Complete Guide to Digital Photography takes a close look at every detail of lowlight photography. Michael Freeman offers in-depth analysis of the many techniques photographers must master for night and lowlight shooting. Point by point, this book teaches you the technical side of taking great night and lowlight pictures. Learn how to determine exposure, fine-tune white balance, control depth of field, reduce digital noise, how to keep the camera steady, what lenses and camera settings to use, and how to best apply flash, bracketing, image-stabilizing, and vibration reduction. He also outlines common lowlight situations, from stormy weather and deep shade to twilight, moonlight, city lights, and nightclubs. Finally, Freeman examines software programs and processes that will increase the quality of lowlight photographs.
